Holding a Bee Frame Correctly [to Identify Disease]

ft Miskell Hampton | ABA of NSW Field Day 2019

In this video, Miskell explains the correct methods to hold a bee frame. This is particularly important to identify brood disease, such as AFB & EFB and many other diseases that threaten honey beehives.

Miskell is the president of the NSW Apiarists Association Sydney Metro branch. She designs, develops and delivers the National Accredited Training Program Certificate III for Beekeeping in NSW.

Miskell’s study of bee diseases takes her to the UK every year, where she has gained extensive experience in identifying and treating pests not found in Australia, like the devastating Varroa Destructor. She has been presenting bees, insects and pollination with the Royal Agriculture Society to 1200 school aged children for three weeks in 2019. She is a great mentor and is a member of the Illawarra Beekeepers.

This video was made possible because of the generosity and willingness of the presenter, to share knowledge and expertise. And also with the assistance in the form of a subsidy from the Amateur Beekeepers Association of NSW. Thanks to all in the ABA and others involved in this project who supported it’s release. A special thanks to the illawarra beekeepers assoc. inc. for the use of their venue and facilities. You can find out more about illawarra beekeepers at https://illawarrabeekeepers.org.au
